Licensure
Graduates of the Wayne County Community College District Veterinary Technology Program are eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician national and state examinations. The student must undergo a criminal background check and submit fingerprints if no criminal history information is found the Bureau of Health Professions will be notified within 24-48 hours. If a criminal history is found the record will be provided to the Bureau of Health Professions for review. The criminal background check is not subject to disclosure under the Freedom of information Act and will not be disclosed to any person except for the purpose of licensure or for law enforcement.
The exam is offered in East Lansing in June of each year. Persons who successfully complete the examinations are given the title "Licensed Veterinary Technician".
