Accreditation
The Wayne County Community College District Veterinary Technology Program has been granted FULL ACCREDITATION by the American Veterinary Medical Association's Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA). This committee was originally formed in 1972 and has been charged with the following aims and purposes:
1. To aid in the establishment of associate degree and other programs of at least two years in providing basic education for veterinary technicians.
2. To approve only those curriculums that will enable graduates to adapt to additional specialized education.
3. To evaluate programs and factors of employment with the objective of progressive improvement of the program.
The WCCCD VTP was initially granted accreditation in 1976 which signifies that the program meets or exceeds the standards set by the AVMA and that graduates of the program are eligible to take the national licensing examination and/or state licensing examination.
The program's Student Association of Veterinary Technicians (SAVT) is a student chapter of the North American Veterinary Technology Association (NAVTA).
